Never in Our Wildest Dreams, The Snuts at The Sugarmill

“Growing up and coming into this as a band, people would always say ‘if you can do it midweek in Stoke’ and shit like that.” Well, The Snuts certainly did do it on a cold Thursday night at The Sugarmill to a sold out crowd. A short but sweet set which we never thought would happen in our wildest dreams.

The West Lothian four piece made a quick stop off in the Midlands, on their way to playing

The Other Stage at Glastonbury on Friday afternoon. Frontman Jack Cochrane tells Dizzy Magazine how it feels like this is the first proper time they’re playing the iconic festival. “We played a few years ago in a tent so this is the one you dream of.”

Stoke’s own The Dregs and Lissy Taylor were the first on, getting the crowd warmed up to belt out those big choruses.

The Scots then swaggered onto the stage, opening with the nostalgic tune that feels like you’re drinking a warm cup of tea; Glasgow. The beginning of the melody began, before Cochrane sang ‘Promise you this, I’ll always love the way that you say!’

One beat drop later, The Sugarmill was alive with jangly indie.

But nothing prepared us for the heat of the venue, whether that was from the wealth of moving bodies or Cochrane himself, Dizzy Magazine does not know.

“A beautiful city with beautiful people,” described the band. The classics were a hit, Wilson’s vibrating bassline to Always sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Interrupting the set with a confused question, Cochrane asked “What’s that ugly grey building over there?” pointing in a general direction to the absolute eyesore that is the BT

Building. “I hope none of you work there!” Then we went Deep Diving into some of the tracks from their third offering ‘Millennials.’

If there’s one thing you can guarantee at a Snuts gig, it’s the pits for Fatboy Slim. High energy builds and builds until the floor shakes with bouncing bodies, a sight that needs to be seen to be believed.

A golden glow washed over the venue for the final tracks of the night, Millionaires and Gloria leaving a summery warmth in everyone’s hearts.

We hope The Snuts enjoyed their Glastonbury set, we know we did here at Dizzy Magazine <3
